§. The Virtues, or modifications species of Virtues, classed
§ Virtue its [divisions or] modifications.
Intrinsically valuable useful virtues, subservient or ancillary virtues under one or other of these heads may will all every thing which is entitled to the appellation of virtue, and with or not many few if any exceptions ever thing that has ever worn the name of virtue, be comprised be found, [considered as]: every thing act which being possessed of those other properties characterized that other property which have has been above spoken of as essential to virtue, can upon the principle of utility, be regarded as capable of being with propriety designated by that appellation: every thing which taking for the standard and list of virtues condness subservience to well-being, can with propriety and consistency be regarded as entitled to the name of virtue.
