JB to DrB
Dear Sir
We had the pleasure of receiving your kind
letter much about the time I believe, in which it
ought to have been received. I wish I could have
added that I answered it at the time at which
it ought to have been answered. I have been invited for events
in hopes that some odd section in the chapter of
accidents might turn up that might enable me to
answer it in the way we all wish. To be sure
there was a middle course to take which I might
and ought to have taken acknowledging the
receipt of it immediately as you deserved and
taking the earliest opportunity of giving you
at least what payment might be afforded by our
thanks.
