pardon him so far as to continue him, & upon further Deliberation, think the
Lye wch. he palin'd upon me rather excusable as the effect of Modesty & Shame -
I have been yesterday to Mr Ford the Clerk of the Indictments & advised with him abt.
he looks upon ye Story he invented excusable too & as some Proof of shame & has
promist me to serve him & get him dispatch'd in his Attendance to Day, & advises
yt. he shod confess his Shame upon the Tryal wch. will induce the Court to consider him
in a more favourable & less Criminal Light — so I have just now sent him to Hicke
Hall with a Note of my Complimts to Mr Ford, yt he may know him for ye Person I
spoke to him abt. - but I find I begin to want Room to hold longer Chat with
my dearest Life - however I can't help crouding in a word or two more to express my
for her Pain, which I frequently simpathetically with her, & wish I cod do
it, only, for her - Pray give Mama & Aunt my Sincere respects, & tell 'em I long for
the pleasure of seeing 'em by accepting of their kind Invitation - my Mother desires her
Compliments & Jerry his Duty to them - & to yourself with all thats affectionate from
