No letter from Dr Smith — This is rather unfortunate —
however Porter promises to let me know
by letter as soon as ever he does hear from him —
Mr Porter leaves Earn to-morrow — He has asked me
to go and see him at Colchester this summer.
The news your note contained gave me much concern.
as doubtless it E. However no concern of ours
can mend the — therefore let's away with it.
I did not rise till after 12 this mornin to-day,
however I have made some advances on the Memoire;
and hope to make further 'ere night is over.
Mr Porter fore warned me that Dr Smith was a
"shatter'ds-brained fellow" — I hope not so shatter-brained
as utterly to neglect an application of this sort — I should
think he would not were it only for Porter's account
written when I understand he has been for a great many
years in perfet intimacy.
