Simple Personal Injuries

In examining into the merits of a quarrel
In a quarrel any immorality may be alledged as a ground of reproof
any illegal or immoral act, though not injurious
to the party, or the sincere though erroneous persuasion
of the existence of such an act may be
admitted as a provocation in excuse for what
would otherwise be an act of verbal abuse or
defamation, or even for a slight simple personal injury
or personal insult.

Slight provocation may be admitted in

the way of excuse, because it is not
the effect of an excuse though it be admitted
such, to exempt a man from any part of the punishment.
It may be made a ground for exempting
him from the whole or from any part of it
or from no part at all.

For a personal injury done to the following
Provocations with regard to what persons inadmissable.
persons no provocation whatever shall be admitted
as an excuse:

1. A Parent or other progenitor
2. A Guardian during the time of the Guardianship.
3. A Master during the time of the service.
3. A Schoolmaster during the time of the Scholarship.
4. A Masetr during the time of the service.
