Economy
Settlers hopeless
Introduction
No sufficiently tolerably assured market for the sale of produce
no tolerable reasonable or even tolerably assured market for the
purchase of comforts or even necessaries—Perpetual
danger of not only of general , but of actual and famine, from
the united agency of the various and abundant abundant and diversified causes
of destruction above enumerated; and famine perpetually
at the door and without possibility of treasuring up those a prospect of those defences and
resorting to those resources which public produce suggests and public industry
provides which in the industry are so universally looked to and so generally
attainable within reach in all within reach the civilized countries of the old world.
In this economical department of the inquiry the evidence
that presents itself may be hard relied on trusted with still more confidence
than in the moral. In Conclusions and assertions
respecting the degrees productive of depravity will be liable to the more or less exposed to suspicions
may be too badly
of and exaggeration inaccuracy and exaggeration
and too little grounded and uncircumscribed: histories of particular
accidents and losses are not in any equal degree exposed
to the same causes of error of aberration from the
precise line of truth and accuracy precise truth of things—causes of misrepresentation.
