Inscription of Carriages Upon the most conspicuous part of Carriages of Burthen an the most conspicuous past there -
-of or upon the Tilt used with ? , shall be painted in large and legible
characters the names and place of abode of some the owners and an own-
-er using it either by himself or any other, without suchthe names andor
[place of] abode so punish or with a false or fictitious name [or [place of] abode]

On every public Carriage of Burthen shall also be the Words, "Common
" Stage Waggon" or Cart" painted in like manner, on penalty of $LB 2,,
or imprisonment for

TOLL Evading Toll If a Carriage be turned out of any Turnpike-road into any __
land near adjoining that is not a Turnpike-road, in order to avoid
a Toll the offender shall forfeit [$LB 5,, or suffer imprisonment for

Shafts or shall be forfeited to any who will seize it.
