On this reason there ar the repugnancy
admits of tw two costs both equally conceivable—
one is that the party appearing on the ey eye
of public opinion guilty shall notwithstanding
at the conclusion of the rest have been treated
by the judge as innocent in a manner in other words shall
have been acquitted.
The other is that the party appearing in the
eye of the public innocent shall be notwithstanding
have been treated by the Judge or guilty in other
words shall have been convicted in a manner
unconformable to justice.
Of these two cases the former is a case that
as will will be seen is but too frequently realized.
A multi variety of causes, each of each of them
adequate to the production of the effect, and
accordingly each of them very frequently producing
it, will be mentioned a little further on.—
