When any experiment is order'd to be made Experiments by
&c
whom to be conducted
and inspected
let the conduct of it be under the direction
of the purpose<add>or purposes if he or they choose to have it upon them: but later</add> the ministers of the Board, and where the
appointment is not of a secret nature any person who shall have of the purpose. As to the articles when to
been appointed by any two or more of them, have the liberty at
all convenient times of inspecting the process, taking minutes of<add>[+]</add> [+] it, and offering
their advice |
As to the artists to whom the execution of it is to be committed,
and the Tradesman from whom the materials Artists &c
how to be appointed
(such of them as are not to be had out of
the King's stores) are to be brought, let a certain
number (supposed three or four) of each
denomination be appointed by the Board, out
of which number let the proposer choose one
or more as he shall think proper
The choice of theReasons artists &c should be given
to the Board in the first instance to the Board, that none
but persons of reputation may be be employ'd, &
to prevent any collusion between them and
the proposer: in the second instance to him,
to prevent their being refractory or inattentive
to his directions; and least in case of any
misunderstanding, they should do the business badly
or negligently, in the view of making the experiment
miscarry
