Toribio Nunez. His son called here yesterday. He
is printing his answer to your letter, and I suppose
will print your letter with it. We shall hardly meet.

I have got Sala's Translation of Dumont. His
commentaries occupy as much space as the original.
Some of them have pleased me mightily:- others are
diffusive and feeble. On the whole, it will be a useful
book for Spain and America; for he is bolder than
Nunez, and has translated even the passages on the subject
of religion. He says you are too monarchical — that you
do not give to the form of government sufficient importance
etc. I understand Salas was here. I have sent for
him — I wish he should be acquainted with what you
have lately written — for I find the Serviles are quoting
you as being opposed to beneficial change in the form
of government. You disliked Republics once, I know.
