in a pair of iron boots, made to open so as to receive
them, and kept connected and separated by
an iron bar going across from heel to heel
4. To each boot may be fastened weights

the Judge.

This is the afflicitive punishment for Highwayman/
that is to say, Robbers, when they go out to rob
on horseback or in a carriage.

Note

The punishment of Pickeering and Riding the wooden horse have sometimes been employed
in England amont the ⧼toolbar-peri-deletion⧽ soldiery for military
offences. In account of its their severity they
have not been ,uch in use of late. In their account
as well as that of analogy they seem
better adapted to the purposes to which they
are have proposed to be applied. Punishments
