Frauds relative to the Coin.

then know it to be bad , or at least had originally taken it
as good : but this presumption may be surmounted by other
evidences.
6. No Fraud to possess &c or Utter bad money when defaced. That which was once a piece of diminished or
counterfeit Coin is no longer to be deemed so, after it has
been defaced.(AA)
[(AA) Defaced] 1. Defacing, what — A piece of Coin is understood to be defaced ,
when it has been so dealt with that it is plain no
one could expect to pass it off.
2. Best method of Defacing. The surest way of defacing a piece of Coin is by cutting it in two : that is dividing it into at least two parts as
nearly equal as they can readily be made.
