division of corporal injuries in particular than there are not any
offences of a semi- public nature that correspond. A corporal
injury before it be liquidated as to the part of
the body must be liquidated as to the person.

3. & 4. Confinement and Banishment. 3. & 4. Confinement and Banishment. To their divisions
of corporal injuries correspond those kinds
of semi-public offences by which the communication
between one part of the country and another
is impeded or cut off. Breaking up of roads, or laying them under water destroying
road bridges or ferry-boats; Destroying
inns or public carriages in places little frequented, occupying them or excluding
travellers without distinction of person from
the benefit of them, may serve as instances.

5. Homicide. 5. Homicide. To this division of corporal injuries
there are no offences of a semi-public nature that
can correspond for the reason just given in the case
of irreparable corporal injuries.

6. Menacement. This is an offence which may
as well be directed levelled immediately at a whole
neighbourhood or other class of persons as against
an individual. Under this kind as comes likewise the case where
a multitude of men armed in an unusual manner
traverse the country or the streets of a town either
