When the act was intentional in its consequences
so far as respects the fact general event of hurting, it
may have been intentional or not with the
regard to the quality and degree quantity of damage
that ensued.

As to the quanti quality of the damage, it
is no otherwise material than in as far as it
affects the quantity:
Where the quantity of damage which
actually eventually was intended ensued is is the very as much as the quantity
intended which actually ensues eventually ensues the act may be said to be adequately
intentional with respect to its consequences;
(the intention in this case quadrates exactly with the event:)
when not so much, inadequately; (the intention falls short of the event:) when more,
more than adequately; the intention goes beyond
the event: or in other words, the event falls short of the intention.
You intended for instance, to strike the

to have it cut off, or if you intended to strike
