are exacted, may be divided into 1st the
Direct, 2<hi rend='superscript'>d</hi> The Indirect Consequential..
The Direct affecting acting on the persons themselves
from whom subscriptions these compliances are exacted: the
consequential affecting others according to the
various degree & species of influence they may
have over them from their various situations
Or it may be divided into the sudden, viz:
the hazard it has of distressing those who refuse
to submitt to it - & the distant, upon those who
have already submitted to it
Or into the violent, & the tacit.
