CERTAINTY. ECCLES. Courts. Excomm. for Costs
The Divine Author of our Religion has said, Blessed
be is the Poor+ + Surmon in the Mount. Qu. that whether it is not "Poor in Spirit" , for theirs is the Kingdom of God."
The Ecclesiastical Courts say, Cursed is the poor
whom we have found or made so. [And this is
Law in a country in which Christianity has
been declared to be a part of it. ++ ++ v. Title Blasphemy in Mankind ,c] They of whom
the community of the faithful was at once allmost
exclusively composed , are now to be cut
off from it , there from for being so . I may be told , that is
not for poverty but for contumacy , not for being
unable but for being unwilling but since from [inability] non-payment unwillingness is presumed without further ceremony , who for the good of his Soul , as much as in them live, deliver him over to damnation. : but it will if it be so it
however be allowed me , that the being unwilling is presumed
of course from the being unwilling unable : that being
the case, I leave the distraction to pass for what
it is worth.
