§. 45.
Police Gazette to be
published by the Board,
- free of stamps and
postage - and furnished
gratis to Justices and
Licenced persons - Penalties for malitious
information, and
for anonymous malitious
information.

And whereas it could might be a powerful help to contribute greatly to the
in an especial degree to thebringing of offenders to justice, if a channel of
appropriate intelligence were established, in such sort that, in and by
means of which thereof information of predatory and other
offenses might immediately and without expense, be received from all persons
aggrieved, without expense aggrieved and others , and conveyd in the
same manner to all persons throughout the United Kingdom to whom by means
of their professions respective offices, professions, trades, occupations, or otherwise opportunity might
present itself occurr of contributions to the discovery or apprehending
of the Offender Be it further enacted
that it shall and may be lawful to and for the
said Commissioners, and they are hereby authorized
and required, so soon as conveniently may be,
to cause to be printed and published at the expense
of the said Police
Fund
a paper
of appropriate intelligence, which shall to be stiled the Police
Gazette, Marginal Note [3[ [ ] Why post-free, see Note to §. 47.
in which shall be inserted free and
circulated free of all Stamp-Duties and circulated as also free
of all duty or other charge of postage all such
intelligence, and such intelligence only, as in the judgment
of them the said Commissioners shall be of a nature in its nature thereof sufficient
contributory and contributory in its nature to the detecting and bringing to justice
offenders guilty of either Felonies, Misdemeanors,
or other offenses prohibited by persons guilty of offenses
against the Law any of the Laws or Statutes of this
this realm: His Majesty's realm: which said Police Gazette shall be
at such times on such day or
days of the week
as they shall from
time to time

other place or places, if any, as the said Commissioners
