There is a man here whom Sir has got acquainted with, that, if the story
he tells is true has been very ill by Count Schuvaloff. He is
a German musician, and plays upon the Harpsichord and an instrument of
his own invention. I forget what. He had placed several hims before
the El. and got handsomely paid for it. He got one of his instruments
made for (by order) for by the Grand Dutchess, but in the mean
time she died. Schuvaloff thereupon declined to pay him, & upon
his talking of complaining, threatened to have him kidnapped and
sent Siberia. Upon this he decamped in a parade. S's secretary
who was his friend told him he had said every he to do but you would what he could
