Tothill Fields 1 Decr 1796
Per Sam, at his House
1 Decr 1796
Meeting yesterday,
Dean, Sam & Bill
(Finch expected not
present) Dean with
an air of humour<lb/Here; another letter
from Mr Bentham
— later it to the Chapter
room.
Presently after
the Sketch work the
Observations — Dean.
Here lies another
paper from
Mr Bentham —
here put it along
with the former one.
Bill — Give me time
to9 look at it first.
He accordingly to do
it, and read it or
begin reading of it.
This was all that
passed.
Finch a close<lb/.Man — does not
in general let it be
know what his mind
is about things —
He is the rector of St
Johns. He said once
upon this occasion that the Churchwardens
had a plan
in relation to the Fields
that would be very
beneficial to all parties —
and that they
would soon come forward
with it.
Finch certainly went
about it to Ld Belgrave.
