Standing on life's rugged border
Looking times dark rude boundary o'er;
All behind is dark disorder
All mistrust & doubt before.

From our narrow, gloomy dwelling
Calmly let us look above;
Virtue all our steps impelling
To the eternal shrine of love.

There a thousand joys await us
Joys which plea roll in flowing tide
There, ten thousand smiles shall greet us
Smiles, from spirits sanctified.
