As the unhappy testimony of the statutes themselves will not permitt us to consider it as a state an accurate state of an exposition
of the natural Laws on that behalf the public [therefore can only consider it must content themselves with regarding it as a pledge solemnly given to them [& confirmed
by the repeated Editions of that learned & eloquent performance] of his sentiments on the question
of expediency: & expect [consider] themselves as authorized thereby to expect, that if ever it
should become a question before the Legislature of national concern whether they shall be omitted or retacted
he will shew himself among the foremost advocates of Liberty, Philosophy, & Religion,
by the assiduity of his endevors Zeal with which he will center for the their Repeal.
