to Fucation

Against the heterogeneous
and infinitely diversifiable
artifices that come under the notion of fucation no
uniform measure of indirect legislation occurs, distinct
from the direct provisions which are employed to combat
it. It seems however to be not wholly foreign
to the present purpose to have searched out the native
of this species of falshood to have shewn its resemblance
to the old-established species, to have found for it a
name, to have put it upon a footing with ordinary falshood and to have made it a partaker in that
ignimony with which date from time immemorial been has
attached itself to those others.

Against Personation, indirect legislation affords
an effectual remedy, if it should be deemed
practicable and worth while to employ apply it. I mean
the expedient of marking persons at their birth - See
Tit. Of Preventive Institution.

Against Forgery, indirect legislation affords
different expedients, according to the different species
of Forgery, and the different purposes subjects to which it may
be applied.

The most mischievious kind of forgery when
the strength of the temptation and the frequency of the
opportunity is considered is that which is subservient to Despondment
