Emancipation Preface

The persons for whose use this little tract was composed drawn up
were those of whom in France at that time the constituted authorities
were composed, the object of it already expressed in
the title. The means of persuasion therein employed as
in this ver. that by the possession of every power of government
⊞ ⊞ by their rulers in a view in any such distant dependencies, the contract
of the a people as has commomly
been supposed or at least said, been served but
on the contrary deserved, and in a most mischievous
degree, upon the whole.
In the means of persuasion thus employed in this
little tract may be seen the motive which grew
to it.
