Wrongdoing, in whatever shape it be, and whatever be the occasion, imparts and supposes the existence of a standard of right — a standard of rectitude, from which aberration is made. A To a determinate standard of this sort allusion and reference howsoever must be made, or what is said must will be unmeaning and unintelligible. For this purpose the standard all along alluded to, will be opinions of Mr Bentham. Why? Because in no part of the field of law does he hold up any opinion without subjecting to it or prefixing to it reasons — determinate reasons all of them having for their ultimate support his all-ruling principle — the greatest happiness principle: because this is what all , on this every occasion, and no other writer on the subject of law on any occasion, does

For the purpose of making proof of the design imputed to Mr Brougham, it has been necessary, according to the accustomed as well as nor that an improper, usage to allege on his part, consciousness of this maleficent effects and tendency of the acts imputed to him. Of this consciousness the proof is as follows. At the time of the moving of this Bill, on Mr Broughams Table lay amongst others the following of Mr Broughams in which all one or more the opinions in question with the reasons for their support will may be found. These are 1. Reform. 2. Petition for Justice 3. Equity, Disputation Court Proposal. 4. Equity Disputation Court 4. Constitutional Code Vols with the Contents of all those Volumes in the form of a Table of Chapters and Sections.
