to be clear and uncompensated. May I venture at length to come to this conclusion that The subsistent Law therefore inflicting
Death inflicting dea upon the mother who destroys
her child is [an] inexpedient [Law], and that
any other Law inflicting any punishment upon an act of this
sort, (since if Death is inefficacious we may conclude
in this instance that a less punishment would be still more so,)
would be inexpedient likewise.
