glorious & interesting object & is not to be made & ought not to be made
the weapon of a blind zealot or a precious enthusiast. Every week
produced some new pamphlet intended to develop "the only saving
faith – consisting of the notions of absolute predestination –
irresistible grace – & some of their monstrous consequences as that
good actions do not help towards salvation – that remorse for sin
is a dangerous delusion – that it implies a doubt of the efficacy
of Christ's sufferings – that the vilest & the best of men are equal
in the eyes of God
