It has been will be seen, that the lower smaller the principal
 sum of the note, the more better qualified it is
 to serve in lieu of each and the greater a given  of it the greater the 
addition  which a given sum of it mass it makes to the sum of national
 wealth. The Our object therefore will be to
 reduce the quantum the sum specified in these
 notes to be as small in dimension as possible. 
What can not be done in this way in the first
 instance may perhaps be effected by degrees.
 To begin A note conveying an annuity of 
no more than a farthing every other day — or
 at least a farthing every day might at first
 proposal the first contact appear too minute and inconsiderable
 to be worth purchasing. But when 
 a note conveying a farthing a day for instance
 had got footing and oprea in the  
 and the habit of attaching a value an idea to it
 had become established itself, the connection
 from thence to a note for half the sum
 would be smooth and easy. The & same sum
 which if presented by itself and in the first
 instance would have been treated with contempt,
 may by reference and in virtue of its relation 
to another sum of which it constitutes an

 of making up with the half and addition of
