Indirect Exposing parson
Quasi-marking copies : profiles of this sort I have seen at the
head of several German books . It used to be
common in the English newspapers and is
still in some of the American to prefix to
certain advertisements a graphical symbol calculated to
print impress the imagination the more rapidly
with the idea of the subject of the advertisement :
one may see the figure of a ship at the head of an advertisement
about a ship ; the figure of a nNegro at
the head of an advertisement of a run-away
nNegro. The profile of the Negro , or in case of
a soldier fugitive , sea man , or apprentice or prisoner , the
of any such other fugitive need not take up
more room than any of the above unmeaning-characteristic
and unnecessary symbols.
