On Secy. Peel's Police-Salary raising Speech.

The Times edition is still more compleatly adequate. "The present
Magistrates" (it says) "were" (meaning doubtless are) of the
highest respectively, and performed their duties
to the great satisfaction of the country". Of the thirty "only four"
(it adds) were not Barristers. Well thus there are twenty
six Barristers; and they thus perform their duty: there are four
Non-Barristers and they thus perform their duty: and all
this without the indispensable
