Appearance of parties the general rule.
Altogether repugnant to the ends of justice is the rule or
custom which puts an exclusion upon the appearance of parties
singly on one side or on both sides as circumstances may
require from the presence of the Judge. Appearance of parties
on both sides – is the only rule reconcilable to coincident with any regard for
the interests of justice in the character of a parent rule
for admission given to office persons professional
men in particular in the character of assistants or substitutes
or assistants, the only necessity though the only is
a good plan, but only to a comparatively small number of individual
instances does it extend.
