Peels Police Bill
1.
Preamble.
2.
His Majesty may es-
tablish a new Police
Office for the Metropo-
lis and the surrounding
District, and may ap-
point Three Persons as Jus-
tices, to conduct the business
of the Office, under the direc-
tions of a Secretary of State.
3.
The Justice need not
have any Qualifica-
tion of Estate.
4.
Proviso.
5.
Salary of the Jus-
tices.
6.
The whole of Westmin-
ster, and certain parts
of Middlesex, Surrey
and Kent, to be formed
into One District for
purposes of Police, to be
called "The Metropolitan
Police District."
7.
A sufficient Police
Force for the whole
District to be appoin-
ted by the directions
of the Secretary of State.
The Justices, subject
to the approbation of a
Secretary of State, may
make Regulations for
the efficient manage-
ment of the Police Force.
9.
Police Men may be
suspended or dismissed,
for Neglect or Miscon-
duct, by the Justices.
10.
Penalty on Publicans
harbouring Police Men
during the Hours of
Duty.

Constables attending
at the Watchhouses in
Night may take Bail
by Recognizance
from persons brought
before them for Petty
Misdemeanours; such
Recognizance to be con-
ditioned for the Appear-
ance of the Partie's be-
fore a Magistrate.
12.
In Default of Appear-
ance, Recognizance to
be forfeited.
13.
Time of Hearing may
be postponed.

His Majesty may ap-
point a Person to be
the Receiver of all moneys
applicable to the pur-
poses of the Act.
15.
The Money to be pla-
ced in the Bank of En-
gland, and drawn out
by the Receiver, for the
Payment of Wages and
other Police Expenses.
