If it is to be heard, the language or (I will use a word less liable to ambiguity) the tongue must be understood:
if it is to be heard and read, the language
and the characters must be understood. Neither

Any thing will serve a lawyer for an argument
when pleading for the abuses of his profession.
Translating Law proceedings from Latin into
English did mischief. Why? because more
words go to the same number of ideas in
English than in Latin [more therefore is paid
