Conclusion
Certainly neither can my faculties be so service-
-able, nor will my years be so many, as they
might have been, had it not been for Mr Pitt,
Mr Piven, and Mr Lang: not to mention so many
as yet unnamed noble and illustrious persons, whom for the present
at least I will must be content to have on
occasion I will not attempt to doing further out of
the darkness which in their own judgment is
the only one adapted to their designs and the
means they have employed for the accomplish-
-ment: but the have have sustained which may have been destroyed
& not be in this respect, will not I hope
be regarded as a sufficient for subjecting me
purposely to any further losses, if enough should be found
remaining to qualify me for this humble -
-tion/
of the works of any past years, of any works
if of which such as they are the public is already
in possession. I will on the present occasion, say
nothing. it only for this reason, that they
are past. though in every instance of a
tendency, the character of them as given
by others, and in point, is that of being
scarce little known — unanswered — inanswerable —
unapplied unheeded, and consequently of us use.
