3 ADULTERY — of the Wife, why disgraceful to the Husband which prompts her to seek occasions of a promiscuous
intercourse with the Sex in general. 2dly
an attachment preference given to the gallant in particular.
3dly material disagreement from whatever cause
between Husband & wife. 4thly Cruelty or wrathfull
neglect on the part of the Husband which have
the hatred of the wife: or lastly
infirmities of mind or body which have drawn
on him her contempt. Of these several causes
by much the greater part carry
either doubtful or certain upon the Husband.
All but the 1st demonstrate, that at least as
far as regards that particular Woman, he
possesses not the power of pleasing, & that his
does.
