go on much as usual with Mr Pownall — have you finish'd the
Draught of a Ship, you told me in your last Letter but one
you was about, and have you Shewn it to him - or not, -
& if you have, what said he to it — if not I cod wish
you wod as finishing any thing to answer a purpose
is always something gained - tho' it may happened not to
answer the principal purposes intended — by Mr Davis's
absence you will lose a good help-mate in your
Pursuit of Euclid — but I hope it will not discourage
you from compleating the Plans you had in view, in
regard to That — and I shod think you wou'd have
the more encouragement to attempt something of that
kind now, as it may give your Friends the better
Grounds to go upon in their Commendation, by the
Time you are in a Condition to appear as a Candidate
for some sort of appointment yourself —
You never told me of Mr Campbell's marriage -
how do's his Neil relish it - is not the Lady
he married a Daughter of Major Pelia who
fell in the fatal Battle at Bunker's Hill, and whose
dead and dying Body was carried off from the Spot by his Son
like another pi Queas —
your reflection upon the account your Brother has
given you of his fresh pursuit, is a very just one -
I shod be happy, if it shod succeed — and if it shod
not, it however proves as you observe, that his
mind is no longer shaggled
