My dearest Life!
Never was I upon any occasion so much at a loss for words as I am
at present to express the sense I have of your obliging goodness, I know full well how greatly
I am indebted for the kind & most indearing concessions that has made in forwarding
what will be the chief felicity of my Life by giving me the Opportunity of convincing
you that you have plac'd your affection & Esteem on One who wod prefer it to all the world
cou'd give him beside, & whose study & indeavours will be constantly employ'd to -
increase your happiness to the latest moment of his Breath — I am thoroughly sensible
my dearest Creature! no one cou'd possibly make me so happy as you, & therefore
you may justly challenge the utmost Returns of gratitude I can ever make you,
Returns, yt. if I shod ever fail in, I am sure, I shall no less deceive the present
Integrity of my own Heart, than abuse the generosity and all engaging Confidence
of yours —
