§1<lb> Power
to nominate
Magistrate

It shall be lawful for his Majesty [+] [+] by his Royal Sign manual countersigned by any one of his Majesty's Principal Secretaries of State to nominate
and appoint any two Aldermen persons being of the City of
London for the time being [+] <note>[+] the 2<hi rend="superscript">d always to be one</note></hi> together with any
three of his Majesty's Justices of the Peace
act each of them commissioned by his Majesty
and acting or duly authorised to act each of them for the sour several Counties
of Middlesex, Surrey, Kent and Essex which and
such five Magistrates so nominated and appointed any two of them
being authorised and empowered as
aforesaid may and shall <add. from time to time constitute</add> nominate and appoint
as also at their discretion discharge any such member of able bodied and
desirat and able bodied persons as to them the said Magistrates
shall seem merit to act and serve as Constables
for the preservation of the peace upon
