Thames Police Bill

§1
Power to his Majesty
to nominate
Magistrate

It shall be lawful for his Majesty [+] [+] by his Royal Sign manual countersigned by any one of his Majesty's Principal Secretaries of State to nominate
and appoint any two persons being Aldermen of the City of
London for the time being [+] [+] the 2d always to be one together with any
three of his Majesty's Justices of the Peace
act each of them commissioned by his Majesty
and acting or duly authorised to act each of them for the four several Counties
of Middlesex, Surrey, Kent and Essex authorising and em which and 2 Aldermen for swearing in Thames Police Constables
such five Magistrates so nominated and appointed any two of them
being authorised and empowered as
aforesaid may and shall from time to time constitute nominate and appoint
as also at their discretion discharge any such member of able bodied and
desirat and able bodied persons as to them the said Magistrates
shall deem merit to act and serve as Constables
for the preservation of the peace upon
and in the vicinity of the River Thames + + Item start the for the and
especially for the preservation of Men & several Vessels
with their Cargo all which lying at moorin
for the purpose of loading and unloading
or otherwise in and upon the said River which
said persons being with their own consent respectively so nominated and constituted
shall be stiled and intitled Thames Marine Police Navigation Police
Thames Police
Constables and shall each of them in by virtue
of such nomination and appointment have
and possess as well in upon and within the
Banks of the River || || Limits as in and for within every
Parish Township Constable wick or Plain in
the said City of London as also in and [+] Ward
one of the said four adjacent Counties abovementioned thereto adjacent
