<p>Article 1 &#x2014; All monasteries of the monkish orders are suppressed,<lb/>
including those of the Benedictine Cloisters of <sic>Arragon</sic> &amp; Catalonia, <lb/>
as also the Convents &amp; Colleges of the four military orders of S<hi rend="superscript">t</hi> John<lb/>
of Jerusalem, the Knights Hospitalers, &amp; the Hospitalers of <foreign>San Juan<lb/>
de Diös</foreign> &#x2014;</p>
<p>2<hi rend="superscript">d</hi> The secular benefices attached to Monasteries, are restored to<lb/>
their original independence, &amp; to the appointment of the King &#x2014;</p>
<p>3 The merits of individuals belonging to these respective institutions,<lb/>
and the rank which monks may have obtained in them,<lb/>
shall be very particularly attended to, in the appointments to<lb/>
Archbishoprics, Bishoprics, prebendarics, &amp; all ecclesiastical<lb/>

Article 1 — All monasteries of the monkish orders are suppressed,
including those of the Benedictine Cloisters of Arragon & Catalonia,
as also the Convents & Colleges of the four military orders of St John
of Jerusalem, the Knights Hospitalers, & the Hospitalers of San Juan
de Diös
