"that any persons attempting to sell liquor without a licence
"might only on its being served, and the houses of the offending
"parties pulled down."
Proof of the utility "Several of the Soldiers had .... disposed
of the and tobacco served out to them.... . artful people
had bartered [with them] a bottle of spirits in many instances for
six times its value.
Proof of illegality. Same as in in regard
to the denomination of the officers by which the licence is to be
given together with the necessary formalities se: besides that in
Great Britain it is only malefactors and not Governors that pull down other peoples
houses, except because mig on some such occasion as that of saving
neighbouring houses from fire.
