Diss. Division Of Anomalous Offences in general by Falshood Of Falshoods in general

9. with Offences Reflex Self-regarding Offences 9. With self-regarding offences of the self-regarding
class it might seem at first sight that falshood
could have nothing to do: since it is only in a
figurative sense that a man can be said to deceive
himself. But for a man to do himself a mischief
the consent of others may become necessary:
in order either to dispose them either to assert, or at least
to forbear opposing him. In this point of view,
any of the sorts of falshood, even here
may come in by accident.
