All this which, even by the end of the year period
by the very supposition not a penny of this £10,000,000
of Annuity Note paper can have got into the
hands of any customer for Stock Annuities
as such — can have been purchased to serve as a
substitute for Stock: for at the very last day, by
this supposition Stocks are no higher than 85
and if to purchase an annuity of £3 a year
in Annuity note paper would to any person when
it meted to lay his money out in the purchase of
stock be a loss to the amount of 25 but loss.

But by the 13 1/3 million of Stock Annuities
thus taken out of the whole mass no slight degree
of progress will have been made to the bringing
of that source of income up to the point at
which it will the purchase of it will cease to be
more advantageous than or so advantageous as
the purchase of Annuity note paper, in a word
at the conclusion of the first of those periods
so often spoken of: the amount of which the
influx temporary addition made to the currency
as above, will with great rapidity at a very rapid rate be reabsorbed.
