Dear Sir

On leaving you I waited upon
Mr. Ignotus, alias the Revd. David Williams who
had not the smallest objection to your his name's being
intrusted to you. He said that he had long
desired and should be very happy to make your
aquaintance; but added that such was is the
pressure of business he has to wind up before
his rural excursion, and so many the persons who
may call upon him at uncertain hours, that he
is obliged with regret to deny himself the satisfaction
of dining with you; and hopes that you
will not ascribe it to any want of respect if he
solicits the honour of a call from you either
tomorrow, or Wednesday between eleven o'clock
and two. He set's off on Wednesday afternoon.
As a variety of rumours have got abroad respecting
his intended continuation of Hume's History, he
