My dearest Grandpapa

As I learn that the books
& papers you were so good as to destine
for Guatemala are not yet
gone, I think it right to tell you
what has occurred respecting them
within my knowledge since I dined
with you.

Immediately on Mr. Herrera's
return to town, which was took place within
a day or two after I saw you, Mr.
Prandi communicated to him what you
had told me, respecting & desired me
to tell him, — namely that the
packet was already gone sent to
Guatemala by Mr. Bowring.
Mr. Herrera expressed great surprize
& regret at this; as he said Del Valle
(his cousin) had specially
