Too diffuse – Rewrite
The third class of acts consists a man's acts is composed of those by which while he
sales to promote and promotes accordingly his own
greatest happiness with or without seeking thereby to promote the
greatest happiness of others he at any rate does in fact promote
and accordingly is by the persons in question seen or thought
to promote the happiness of others: and with reference to all
this class of his acts he will have find supporters in all those
others by whom such tendency on the part of such his
acts is seen or supposed to have existence. Thus
2. Even setting aside these two cases There then may be seen the three cases of which the relation
between individual interest in the breast of each one and
universal interest and individual interest in the breast of
each one is susceptible: interest individual interest opposite to and opposed by
universal interest or a portion of it more or less considerable;
2. individual interest neither opposite to nor favorable
to universal or this or that part of it: 3. individual interest
favorable to universal interest or this or that part of it. To
the extent of the first of these cases, finding a stronger interest
acting in opposition to it its effect amount to nothing will be equal to 0
to the extent of the second class, being promotion augmentation of the happiness
of that one individual without being subtractive from
the happiness of any other it will be augmentative of the
aggregate stock of happiness as consists of the happiness
of that one individual, to the extent of the third and last
of these cases being promotive of the happiness of it not only
of that one individual but of others to an indefinite amount
it will by so much the more be augmentative of the aggregate
stock of human happiness.
