Constitutional Procedure CodeCh. Evidence
§. Exclusions
To those who not content with making their profit
of this depravity the contents of the Augean stable , and as occasion serves adding
to the mass of it exhaust the powers of rhetoric in
trumpeting forth the purity of it in its real character
a secret? then what shall be said any of their understanding.
Is it known to them? Are they conscious of it? then what shall be said of
their heart, and their title to that respect for which
they are so , extorting it by punishment as
well as bidding for it by reward?
Those works That work which in the field of evidence show
at present what is or is pretended to be law, will one
day and perhaps ere long serve in the character of
historical works serve to show to what depth in the
gulph of debasement more of depravity the understandings of mankind have
been capable of being sunk.
Unknown to the domestic judicature even in the
most savage state are these exclusionary rules. To generate
those required of sincerity conceived, required that sort of error
this is as much below ignorance as ignorance is below knowledge.
