Penal Code.Political defamation

Those, in whose
hands the possession
or expectancy of the
power of government
is lodged, will be likely
to make the most
pretensions of this
nature.

In English practice,
in cases of political
defamation, truth
no justification,
but an aggravation.

Uses of the exposure
of the fallacious
grounds of this position.

Suffering to the person
accused much
greater, if the accusation
be true, than
if it be false.

By a true accusation,
much more
intense is the alarm
than by a false one.

But, however correct
the observation,
it is not pertinent
on the occasion
in question.
