livelyhood, the offender shall be deprived of one or both of
the members which are principally of use to himself in
getting his livelyhood, whether they be the same members
or not. As if the Offender being a weaver or a shoemaker
cut off the Leg of one who is a Letter-carrier
or a running footman; he shall lose rather one of his
arms than one of his legs.

8. So in another Case. So if the view be to deprive a man of any particular
amusement in which he principally delights. As
if one who delights in the study of natural History flowers or shells, deprive
a Man who delights in playing on a musical
instrument; of his hands; the offender ought rather to
be made to forfeit his Eyes than his Hands.
