Of Falshoods in general Diss.
— in the view of creating or destroying a title to any profession Forgery Falshood in the view of causing a man to be

very heterogeneous nature. The profit and mischief
of the offence will vary it is evident according to
the nature of the profession; according as it appears
to be a source of profit or a burthen, a dignity

The party prejudiced by it may be either
an individual, a class of individuals, or the state.
The news itself may be either good or bad: agreable
or disagreable. If good to men any one; without being bad to any one. it is not very easy
to conceive how the propagation of it it should manifest itself in the
shape of an offence. If disagreable to an individual
or unextensive class of individuals, as concerning incidents by which only the interests of an individual or unextensive class of individuals can alone be affected it will operate in general
merely in the capacity of a mental injury. Even
in this way the mischief of it may be begun of an
by no means inconsiderable. If it concern affect the state
