107. C Of Forgery. Definition
1 No matter whether the instument be entire is no graphically recognized] by the party whose [declaration or

2 A Copy, what — From p. 104. No 2
[(BB) Copy] 1. A copy or derivative instrument is an instrument
that purports not to have been either made or authenticated
by the party whose declaration is in question but yet
to contain as far as it goes characters significative not only
of the same meaning with those of the Original, but even
of the same sounds, when the Original is significative of
particular sounds; and those characters made upon inspection
or recollection of the Original or of some instrument
taken in like manner from the Original
or some other copy.
2. A Copy at First hand, second hand &c. A Copy at first hand is a copy taken immediately
from the Original: a Copy at second hand, a copy
from a Copy at first hand: and so on.
3. An ordinary Copy is of Sounds not Characters. Where the Characters of the Original are expressive
of particular sounds, an instrument may be a copy of it without
being expressive of the same or even of similar characters,
so it be expressive of the same sounds: where the original
